About the neighborhood

Quiet town center, Shallowford Square events, larger newer homes

Lewisville is Clemmons' quieter neighbor to the north, built around Shallowford Square — a true town green with concerts, a farmers market and a Fourth of July celebration. The town incorporated in 1991 and has planned its growth around that square, with sidewalks and a small commercial core along Shallowford Road and Lewisville-Clemmons Road.

Neighborhoods range from the long-established streets off Shallowford Road and Robinhood Road to newer subdivisions like Arbor Run, Vienna Woods and Windham Farm, with larger lots and some horse property toward the Yadkin River and Vienna. Same West Forsyth school zone as Clemmons, a few minutes farther from I-40, and a touch more rural.

Characteristics

Transportation

US-421 and Lewisville-Clemmons Road connect to I-40 in a few minutes; downtown Winston-Salem is about 18 minutes and Wake Forest University 15. Within town, Shallowford Square and the adjacent shops are walkable from the nearby neighborhoods; elsewhere it is a car town.

Services

A compact set of shops and restaurants around Shallowford Square, Lowes Foods and Food Lion in town, and the full retail of Clemmons and the Hanes Mall corridor ten minutes away. Jack Warren Park and the Yadkin River access points are the outdoor spots; Forsyth Country Day School is here.

Character

Small-town and civic-minded. The square gives Lewisville a center that most suburbs lack, and events there draw the whole town. Streets are quiet, neighborhoods are stable, and the western edge toward the river still feels like countryside.
