Small town with a strong community identity, town park and new subdivisions
Oak Ridge sits at the crossroads of NC-68 and NC-150 in northwest Guilford County, about 12 minutes from PTI Airport. It is one of the Triad's fastest-growing small towns: new subdivisions have gone in along Linville Road, NC-150 and Haw River Road over the last two decades, yet the center of town still looks like a village — Oak Ridge Military Academy's historic campus, the town park, a handful of churches and the Oak Ridge Commons shopping center.
Buyers come for new and newer construction on half-acre to multi-acre lots, Northwest Guilford schools and a short airport commute. Prices run higher than most of Greensboro and in line with Summerfield. Like its neighbor, much of the town is on well and septic outside the newest subdivisions, and the town has worked hard to keep a rural look along its main roads.

Car-dependent, but well placed: NC-68 runs straight south to PTI Airport and I-40, I-73 is minutes east, and NC-150 connects to Summerfield and Kernersville. Downtown Greensboro is about 20 minutes and Winston-Salem 25 to 30. No public transit.

Oak Ridge Commons (Lowes Foods, restaurants, services) covers everyday needs at the NC-68/NC-150 intersection, with larger shopping ten minutes away on Battleground Avenue or at the Palladium in High Point. Oak Ridge Town Park has fields, trails and a splash pad; Belews Lake is about 20 minutes north.
Character
A small town with a strong identity and a lot of young families. The Oak Ridge Military Academy campus and the historic district give the center a sense of place, while the newer neighborhoods bring sidewalks, pools and HOA amenities. Evenings are quiet; weekends revolve around youth sports and the town's festivals.
